Andrew Hem's "Dream But Don't Sleep" Recap

"Dream But Don't Sleep," Andrew Hem's solo which opened on Saturday night at Merry Karnowsky, was a triumph. Since I know some of you couldn't make it, I thought I would share some of my favorite pieces with you. Also check out Arrested Motion, which provided the photo of Andrew's studio installation below, to see more photos of the work hanging in the gallery.

Hi Amanda-
These Hem paintings are so special. I love "New Name" - his ability to paint mysterious figures in different moody landscapes is amazing. His attention to clothing details is wonderful. He paints rocks like nobody's business. I also love the studio paintings - The Printmaker and Yesterday. Masterful handling of the chaos of used art supplies and the stunned artist who is caught up in the hurricane of his active studio.
